My Bicycle. May 14, 2009

So many years ago I spent a lot of time cycling, well after a recent conversation with my parents they could not get me off the bloody thing. But when I started working I went on it less and less until years down the line it was something that I just kept meaning to get round to. I really did enjoy it and have recently decided to start back down the road (or should I say bicycle lane?) of the 2 wheeled transport, I think for 2 reason, 1- I loved it and 2 – I may look like im in a fit condition but I am physically unfit.
So here it is….
The Genesis Core 30, and its soo nice. Finding the bike I wanted like most things in my life is going through everything I can find on line, every review, all the reviews of anything to do with any part of the bike. Genesis are not a big company and don’t have their bikes in every shop and I have always like the underdogs so I decided to go for the Core 30. With a RRP of £850 I spent ages trying to find a cheaper deal and did, found some for £699, the problem was is that no one had one in stock, and the main stockist said that was it for the year! After spending all this time finding the right bike and then being told you will have to wait 7 months! ARRRRRRR, I was not too happy, so I spent a few days going to different bike shops in the North West trying to find one with no luck, after popping over to Liverpool to see my lovely girl friend a called a bike shop in the area to be told, once again they didn’t have one in stock, I was 5 mins in to an email I was writing to genesis asking where I could get a bike from when the shop called me back, they had one, don’t think I stood to the speed limit but Birkenhead is not somewhere you want to spend much time stood still im told. So now I have my bike.
It is still taking a little getting used to, and at the moment im only going to and from work, I have not had a day off as of yet and I hate to say it but I am unfit so the fast few mins to work and back are working.
2 Years to send a Text January 27, 2009

2 years seems like a long time to send a text, your right but not for this text. I have mentioned that my Sister and Dad don’t talk and have not had more than 2 very short conversations in the past 13 years and now I think they have both just got used to the fact that the other person in not longer in their lives, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that its just the way our minds work. Well I speak to both of them which is a good thing, I never feel like in stuck in the middle of things and get on well with both sides, but being in this situation I have always felt the only one who could bring my dad and sister back together is me, I’m in the perfect position. The down side is that I push too much and end up in a worse situation than I’m in and that’s the thing that really scares me.
For many years now, well around the last 3 its something that has been playing on my mind more and more, I know getting them in the same room would be too much to start with, I think letters take too much time, telephone calls you can run out of things to say so email was an idea, you can have time to plan what you are going to say, they are much easier to reply to and it’s a little disconnected which I think will help in this instants.
So the text message thing, I know my dad would be ok with the email thing its getting my sister on the same side, I have been spending a little more time with my sister working with her on a project and I felt it was time as I did quite a few favours for her that I could ask her to do one for me, so after many many pints last night I finial got the courage to text my little sister asking her if it was ok for me to pass on her email address and she said yes, I cant tell you how happy that makes me even now just typing it in to this blog.
I don’t know whats going to happen and I’m trying not to think about it to much but I think I have made the move, i just have to wait.
A Sony Surprise December 30, 2008

I have a lovely Sony laptop which I have had for just over a year and its been great, it should seeing it cost so much. I have had no problems with it at all and with computers dying around me like fly’s it seems like a good thing to have.
After 6 months one of the little rubber feet that stick to the bottom of my laptop came off and I lost it, it really didn’t have any affect to me using the laptop until another one came off the now the laptop kind of slides around on my desk or just slides off lecterns which is not a good thing. So about 2 months ago I raised the problem with Sony and the communication went between us until they said they would call and sort this problem out, I didn’t get that call. So after the other day where my laptop would not stay on a lectern I decided to get it fixed, I re opened the complaint and was greeted with your laptop is out of the 12 month guarantee, well that’s no good so I called up Sony to find there was nothing the man on the end of the phone could do even after I argued the point that the problem had been raised during the 12 month cover, he told me the only way to get the problem fixed would be for me to buy the sticky feet, at £19! For that price I would expect little gold Vaio sign imprinted in each one and a little diamond where the point goes, I told him that I was unhappy with the fact Sony were not going to do anything about my problem and getting ripped off in the same phone call would make me even more unhappy.
So that was the end of the call, the case closed and I was going to have a look on ebay or something like that to find something I could chop up a little to make fit, until this afternoon when I got a call off Sony saying there were sorry and as a good will gesture they would send the out free of charge, I have to say it surprised me as the phone call the day before gave me the impression it was imposable for that to happen.
I have to say well-done Sony, after the 1st phone call I looked around for someone at Sony to complain to and found many stories about people unhappy with their service and I thought I should make sure people know how happy I am with their service.

What a week, New President and the right one in my eyes and if it had been the other way I would have abandoned America forever, it was good to see Obama win the electoral and popular vote. On the run up to the election the general feeling at work was it was going to be a close vote but the numbers say otherwise and I’m so glad.
So the night of the election I was working on quite a large event in Manchester, I say large, it would be C list celebrity big event but after the show there was an after show party, if you ever go to a large event and after there is a after show party and about an hour after the event you notice a bunch of fellas turn up not dressed up they would be the techs working on the event, it was nice to spot some celebrities you get to see on TV every day but the nicer thing was the free bar and we took full advantage of that, I even got a few bottles of wine to ‘take home’ and some goodie bag which would have been more suitable of I was a girl.

Hi all, I went to Chester Zoo the other day. I got a voucher from work and I’m glad I did as even at half price it cost about £30 for the day, now I don’t know if it’s me getting old but that’s a lot of money just for the zoo. Well if I am getting older I still love the zoo and I think no matter how old I get I will never not love the zoo.
We are getting closer to Costner chaos night where myself and some other movie lovers watch Kevin Costner films back to back all night in to the wee hours of the morning, I know Kevin is not the best Hollywood has to offer but that is the idea, he has been around for donkeys years and has don’t many films. This is the same weekend where I get to go down for my single seater driving thing at Silverstone which I’m really looking forward to.
Apart from that it’s been a normal week if you don’t count the work night out I had singing away in one of the Karaoke pods at Tiger Tiger, well I don’t really like to sing, I’m happy with the knowledge I cant sing but I did have a little sing song when it was forced up on me.

Last year for Christmas I got a Microlight flight and really enjoyed it, it was nice getting something that I would not go out and get myself. This year I got something where I get a little more control, I got a track day at Silverstone, I get to spend most of the day driving round the 5,141 km track. To start with I get to go round in just a normal car with some safety extras but after that I get to move up until I get a F3 car to play with. I have driven for many years and enjoy it, now I get to do it without traffic jams, speed cameras or cops to slow me down. I have it booked for the 27th April (more of a reminder to me).
Got to go,
