So the past few weeks have been very buisy, I have been helping a few friends with filming, I say helping but its more of moving stuff and holding stuff but I’m glad to help and it lets you watch people who know what they are doing, I think I have picked up quite a few things just by helping out.
Working in the sets gives you a good idea how much work goes in to the preparation of filming, lighting can take hours just to get right and once it is you find you have 10 very hot lights in a small room and with 6 people , and have never felt heat like it. But also looking at the camera work and how different people frame different shots. Its very inspiring, I don’t think I’m much of a script person but I do think I would enjoy camera work.
Work have a short film festival every year and its coming up in the next few months so I’m thinking of may be doing something. Ive been trying to get a few people on board from work but its not moving as quickly as I think it needs to for it to be workable.
So Gigs, I got to film Dr Tid and the triple 8’s album launch on Friday night at Centro Bar on Tib street. First the Gig which was very good, its a nice venue and I think this night went off very well. The filming was something a little new to me a long with the broadcast quality cameras, I did find the more I drank the more risky shots I went after, I hope once they have the footage it works out well, if not I don’t think I will be asked again. It was also the last time Arm rug would ever play, it was good to see them back and doing what they do best and it had been some time since I watched them play.
They also got a little air time this weekend on BBC Manchester radio, have a listen here, its 2:20 in and Shmoo also got in there just after.

Ok so its been some time since I last visited my blog, as the title may give a hit it would be all busy at work. I had to go over to another or are sites the other day to help run a big event and what an event! I got to see some very early footage of an upcoming film, footage that I’m not even allowed to speak about, I would get it a lot of trouble if I did so I’m not, its very very good though.
I managed to go see AC/DC limewire last week and have a trip to see Guns 2 roses next week, it seams like it’s the time for tribute acts, I don’t mind they can be very good. Also going to see Reel Big Fist tonight at the Academy which should be good.
Ok have to go, I’m sure at some point I will have time for a more detailed blog.
No man’s land December 29, 2008

I do like to think of the time after Christmas and just before new years as no man’s land, no one is quite sure what to do, we all go back to work for a few days knowing we will be off aging for some fun and drinking so we kind of just get through. To be honest it’s a nice break from drinking as the last 5 days have been hard on the old liver, but it is the festive time and fun is to be had.
So after doing 350 miles in 3 days it all worked out well, I had a really nice festive time even with all the drinking involved. I got my really nice retro Casio watch so now I can tell the time without looking at the sun, Christmas would not be Christmas without socks, YAY! Some supper cool t-shirts (Best is the silver surfer), box of smelly stuff, beer (YAY again) a board game (thanks to the girl friends brother for keeping it retro) and cash, 28 and I still get cash off my parents, its just awesome. So with my new cash flow I decide to sink some of it in to more of a musical fund, yes Guitar Hero 4, I can now play with all the greats and sound just as good and it’s just so cool.
So as I said it’s the few days of winding down and its welcome after the Manchester – Sheffield – Manchester – Liverpool – bury – Manchester – Liverpool – Manchester 3 days, it’s a good job I love my car. So I’m just coming to the end of the first of 2 days at work, nice 13 hour days though so tomorrow will just be as long as today but then I’m off for a few days and back for one before being off for a few days again. It’s a good job as I have a list of things to do around the flat one of which is play guitar hero but that seems to be missing of the list my girl friend gave me, strange, typo maybe?
I think this Christmas will be remembered for all the people I got to see, I nearly got to see everyone who I care about over the 4 days and I got it done without someone being unhappy I was late or not there on such a day, its been a while since it all came together this well, that said I’m going away next year.
A new week November 9, 2008

What a week, New President and the right one in my eyes and if it had been the other way I would have abandoned America forever, it was good to see Obama win the electoral and popular vote. On the run up to the election the general feeling at work was it was going to be a close vote but the numbers say otherwise and I’m so glad.
So the night of the election I was working on quite a large event in Manchester, I say large, it would be C list celebrity big event but after the show there was an after show party, if you ever go to a large event and after there is a after show party and about an hour after the event you notice a bunch of fellas turn up not dressed up they would be the techs working on the event, it was nice to spot some celebrities you get to see on TV every day but the nicer thing was the free bar and we took full advantage of that, I even got a few bottles of wine to ‘take home’ and some goodie bag which would have been more suitable of I was a girl.
Holiday September 30, 2008

So I find myself just over half way through my holidays, it’s really nice having 2 weeks off together and this is only the 2nd time I have ever done it, I think you get a week in and you realise you have another week left, its cool.
So first week was relaxing, we as much as I could. I started to watch a TV show called Entourage, it is set around a movie star and all his friends who keep his world going round, it may not sound that interesting but it’s a very good show, an Emmy award winning show and its from HBO (The Wire, Sex and the City) so you know it should be good.
You can watch season 5 now on UK tv but I would advise if you like just one episode go and get season 1-4, its just a really easy, funny show to watch and if you enjoy movies it gives you some idea to the world behind the stars. Another really nice thing is the amount of cameos from big stars.
Its bit of a big week for all the TV views around the world. Not only do we see the start of season 2 of Californication, It is like Sex and the City for blokes and David Duchovny plays a wonderful part and its good to see him on the little screen again. Heroes season 3 is now back and its has some work to do with a poor season 2, well the end of season 2, well it was down to the righter’s strike but the season was finished off very very quickly. We also see the start of season 2 of Chuck, I think it’s a funny show but I’m a bit of a geek and its that type of show most of the time. Another show back up and running is The Unit, a special secret army in America, when all else fails you give these fella’s a call.
Not just TV!
I have done some painting around the flat, just some touch ups here and there, I have to take my car in for a service which will be the 1st service I have every paid for, I used to do all my own servicing on my cars but I thought it was time with a newer car I would get it done correctly. I have been out drinking quite a few nights and it been fun, managed to get a few bands in there while drinking as well, even managed to catch a friends band which I had been meaning to do for some time. We were going to go swimming today but after a heavy night of drinking the lovely girl friend didn’t feel too good this morning so I kinda got out of that! Yay!
Batman Dark Knight day 8 July 4, 2008

Nothing really to report, the film is coming but I still have 8 days till I get to see it.
One thing that did pop in to my mind is the day, I’m going to be watching it in the 12th at around 11pm, I’m going to Manchester’s Summer in the Park music festival that day. Its in Platt Fields and its on the 12th and 13th of July 08. The line up for both days looks really good, I’m not going to sit here typing them all up, don’t be lazy just click.
There is still a slight problem with this as well and that is my girl friend has not booked the day off from work and now she cant get it off, so I have to find someone else to go with which should not be a problem but I have this image in the back of my mind of me in a field drunk, drink more as I’m alone and then going to watch what may just be the best film this year, I would like to remember it in some way. Grrrrrrr

Capital of culture, Liverpool sound June 5, 2008

As most people know Liverpool won the Capital of Culture and they have been very busy spending lots of money to get ready for the event planned, I’m sure they won it quite some time ago. One of the big openings of this time for Liverpool was the Liverpool Sound, this was a big concert at Anfield in Liverpool, it was on Sunday just gone. You could not just buy tickets, you had to enter draw and if you were picked then you could get the chance to buy tickets, my girl friend was one of the lucky ones to win and she got tickets a few months back.
The line up consisted of The Zutons, The Kaiser Chiefs and Paul McCartney, there was also talk of a special guest which turned out to be true. So getting there was ok as my girl friend parents live over in Liverpool so we parked up there are got a life, didn’t take too long to get in and get some food and a drink. But like most big events that was the last drink we got as the queues where huge and it would have taken about 50mins just to get another drink, it did change our plans to stay in Liverpool as now I could drive back.
So the first up were The Zutons and they were very good, you could see how much they were enjoying playing to their home crowed. And it was about time I got to see a saxophone in action. I’m not the
biggest follower of the Zutons but all the tracks I did know were played perfectly.
Next up was the Kaiser Chiefs who were fantastic, not just in singing and playing music but in getting the crowed going, to see a football stadium the size of Anfield doing the Mexican wave was great, they played some new songs, that new you could see him reading the stuff of a couple of sheets of paper on the floor, they also played some of the more well know songs which were just awesome live, it really got everyone going for the main attraction.
So it was starting to get dark, the atmosphere in the area was fantastic, we all were there for really one thing and that was to watch Sir Paul McCartney play liver in Liverpool. After seeing him live you can see why people take about him being such a good performer, it was just amazing. He played some of his new tracks and basically went back thorough the greats of his back catalogue. He also had a few medleys and even got ‘Give peace a chance’ in there. He also made a touching tributes to George Harrison – on ‘Blackbird’ and ‘Something’. The special guest of the evening turned out to be Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters how did a little drumming and some rocking guitar. All in all it was a very special night, topped off with Live and Let die explosive show and a huge fireworks display at the end of the night. I think its going to be one of them gigs I will be telling people about for many years to come.

Camping May 22, 2008

I went camping last weekend, I would like to tell you where I went but I’m not exactly sure. I know it was in Wales and I know it was north, it is kind of on the very north tip, near that big power plant. I know it would appear that I had no idea where I was going but I did, it was just that GPS was telling me where to go. So anyway we wrere camping for my friend’s birthday, so me, my girl friend and Brain Splat all went over to Liverpool to pick the birthday girl up and then we were off. Once we got to the camp site to find that it only opens in august we then set off aging to find another and we did. It looked like one of those big houses you see in the film where everyone gets killed by the crazy lady, the lady happened to be nice but I’m sure they all are just before they kill you. We turned up and set up our tents and off we went for a walk before we tacked the BBq. The weather was not very nice, cold and raining but we were not going to let that get us down and just got on with it, we had a good walk and went around the cost for some time before it was time to get the BBq going. Now Brain Splat is one of the best BBQ’ers in the world and even though it was very windy and raining he still got all the food cooked and it was a wonderful meal.
So after a lot to drink we all went off to sleep just to wake up to a wonderfully sunny day, and what did we do with this day? Found a beach and sat there and what a nice day it was, did a little snooping around the rocks and has a few ice creams and burnt my nose but all in all it was wonderful. Didn’t get back till late and still felt knackered but it was a wonderful few days away and if I could remember where we went I would go again.
